Effect of Rohith Vemula Suicide on GHMC Elections 2016 – 49% voters said its not an issue.. .49% of GHMC Elections voters said the suicide of Rohith Vemula (a student of University of Hyderabad) will not affect the fate of any party in coming elections. As per Infopiper Ground Report (Pre-Poll survey), 49% of respondents said that they are fully confident that the issue will not move a major chunk of voters. Pointing towards this, 23% of voters said it will affect choices of some parties but they do not care about the issue.

But as a surprise, 17% respondents said that they are not aware of this incident.

Infopiper conducted a pre-poll survey (Infopiper Ground Report) for GHMC elections 2016. The survey predicts the seat share and vote share for each party along with many other details such as voting pattern and voter behaviour in GHMC elections this time.

This survey is conducted on ground in 150 divisions. The sample size is very huge – totalling 10,050 voters. The voters / participants are from various age groups, male and female (gender), various religions and castes, different classes, social status, etc,.

The Questions asked in this survey are prepared by Team Infopiper – based on different parameters.

This pre-poll survey is conducted after the last date of withdrawal of nominations. This opinion poll sums up the survey conducted on January 21 and January 22, 2016.

A student, Rohith Vemula, committed suicide in University of Hyderabad very recently. Will this affect voting pattern in GHMC Elections? Tell us from your perspective.  

  1. Yes, it will. It will affect some parties – 5%

  2. No, it won’t – 49%

  3. Yes, it will. But I do not care about it – 23%

  4. I don’t know about this incident – 17%
